After-LIFE: new positive signs for the project – reedbed mapping 2025

The project 's After-LIFE activities continue into 2025. The field surveys for the mapping of the reedbed have recently been concluded, which this year has shown a surprising expansion giving great satisfaction to the project that year by year sees more and more consolidation of the positive results of the interventions carried out. The comparison between 2020 and 2025, five years after the start of freshwater injection and the first transplants, is astonishing. The decrease in salinity caused by the inflow of fresh water, its containment by morphological structures, and the reedbed transplanting operations have allowed this plant to spread, recreating a species habitat that is valuable for many bird species. Analysis of the survey results is ongoing for precise quantification of the expansion of the reedbed.
